C. Great speaker, great books and a presentation on bullying coming from a person who has "been there". Though there are concerns, this is certainly worth checking out if you're looking for a dynamic assembly. Concentration on middle and high school students, though she has a presentation for elementary. Her presentation is basically reliving the experiences she covers in her books. The concern is that this is a one-shot deal. It may be effective for awhile, but there is no followup. Dealing with bullying needs to be ongoing with evaluation of progress. Please don't think the presentation will now handle all your bullying problems. Not going to happen. Her presentations are costly, therefore, you must decide if the investment is worth it. I've witnessed them twice, was impressed by what she had to say and how she said it, but in the long-run, I don't believe the cost provided effective long-term solutions. www.jodeeblanco.com.
Excellent song - Don't Laugh at Me, along with outstanding and unique book having same title. Worth checking out the entire program.
Be certain to find the CD entitled "Our Recollections". While Randy is a Christian singer and songwriter, this song is secular in nature. The message is priceless in that it is a true story of how Randy and his friends made fun of a girl in their fifth grade class named Rachel Delevoryas who "will never be one of us". It speaks volumes for those who never quite fit the mold, are made fun of, but have great talents. Google to see the lyrics; well worth checking out.
